After getting the chance to rent GTA IV at my local rental store, the first thing i did was make sure the kids were asleep and placed the game disk in my 360.
First thoughts, I am disappointed! From the get go I felt that this installment of the GTA series looked just like the last (San Andres). Now I did try to be in a positive mood while playing this game.
I will state that the characters in this game are very interesting and well designed. The controls for the game are not to my liking but i adjusted to the new control scheme. I do have to say that the beginning game instructions were not big enough and were hard to read.
I will post additional comments after the break!

Waiting for Grand Theft Auto
As a gamer I am awaiting the release of Grand Theft Auto as is much of the XBOX 360 gaming audience. I research information on this title on an everyday basis and I have already reserved my copy of the game at GameStop. I simply can not wait until this is released but I am not going to take time off to purchase and play this title as others I have heard and read on the internet. I believe this title will be the game of the year even before i play the title. This decision may be based on the amount of hype this title has presently on the net but at the same time I was a fan of all of the releases of this franchise.
As i find out more news about this title I will be posting additional comments on this blog. I hope all of you are as excited to play this game as I am.

Frontlines: Fuel of War Multi-player Review
I had the chance to play Frontlines: Fuel of War for XBOX 360. I took the chance to start a single player game and enjoyed the game and features that the game includes especially the ability to control the remote vehicles such as the Helicopter. I will tell you that I absolutely love the game play when utilizing the remote control vehicles and I can not recall having as much fun as I did when the missions in the single player included the remote vehicle options.
Where this game really demanded my attention to the point of playing a 8 hour cession without realizing that time actually when by is playing the Multi-player option through XBOX Live. The maps included and utilized in the multi-player are simply huge and at the same time interesting and functional. if you have not yet played this game in either mode i would encourage anyone to take the chance to rent this title and give it a chance.

GameFly Experience
I subscribed to GameFly yesterday under their 10 free trial service. I navigated my way through their site and set up the list of games that i would like to request. Most of the games I chose were new releases such as Frontlines but the availability to these games was said to be low so I picke some other games that were a little bit older and left the site.
I received an e-mail about 2 hours later saying that two of my choices had shipped but the problem was these choices were the last two in my list of ten titles. I know that i am new to GameFly but I would suspect that if someone is paying the company's $22.95 per month price to rent games that the availability for the new titles such as Frontlines would be available, why else would someone want to use this service?
I will post additional information that I may experience with respect to the game rental subject in future posts.

The Infamous Peggle
I like any other gamer can easily be addicted to a game simply by playing it, however I have come across a game that I simply can not stop playing. The game I am speaking of has been published by PopCap games and goes by the name Peggle. Currently this game is only available for the PC but I hope to see it ported for the XBOX 360 sometime in the future.
This addictive yet simple game consists of a pinball type playing where the object of the game is to hit each orange colored peg on the screen before you run out of balls to shoot at them. Once you have shot a ball from the top of the screen the ball bounces of other pegs colored in blue as well as various objects provided within the game.
As you make your way through the adventure side of the game to have the chance to hit green colored pegs that correspond with different abilities or special enhancements by the board. Some of these "specials" include flippers, explosions and even enhanced targeting systems which help you achieve the overall task of hitting each orange peg on the board.
A demo of the game can be downloaded form the PopCap game web site and once you have had the chance to try this addictive game you may find it hard not to stop or until you have to purchase the full game to get your Peggle on sort of speak.

The Future of Need For Speed
I spent a good majority of my weekend playing Need for Speed Pro Street and while I enjoy this game as i have stated in the past I am left wondering where the franchise is going to explore next. The Need for Speed franchise has explored various area of the racing world and while the latest installment seem to be directed towards the street racers I believe the franchise might want to review the success of previous installments and include some of the features of these previous versions of the game into a new release.
For instance being able to drive a police car and smash every living vehicle with it was an enjoyment for myself in the previous versions of Need for Speed and i wish this feature was brought back and included in a new release. I understand the overtones of the current release and EA taking the stance of expressing the legal issues of street racing by providing a track oriented aspect to Pro Street.
While illegal street racing is continuing to happen through the streets or our great nation and for that matter the world EA should include aspects from previous games and let parents and the authoirty agencies control the street racing problem.

A Request for Classic Rock Songs on Guitar Hero
I love to play any of the guitar hero games and while i have enjoyed some of the songs throughout the series of this title I wish I could have some of the classic bands of the 70's and 80's in a new installment of the series.
I can remember bands such as AC/DC, Van Halen, White Snake and CCR when I was growing up because my parents blared these bands throughout my house. While I have noticed and played single songs from some of these bands in the Guitar Hero series I wish there were more songs form these bands in future installments.
Everyone from my generation can clearly recall the guitar riffs from a AC/DC song like Back in Black and songs such as these leave a lasting impression on it's listeners. I would hope that Guitar Hero might possess some of these songs in the near future so that I may be able to rock out and jump off the couch while hitting the last note.

Need For Speed - Pro Street Achievements
One of my favorite types of games is the driving or driving simulation genre. I am a huge fan of the Need for Speed series and i have been playing the Pro Street installment for the past couple of weeks and I have enjoyed the changes that EA has done to this installment.
One of the features of Pro Street is the Drag racing aspect of the game. The fact that I can warm up my tires by doing a burn out before the actual races is a cool aspect. I have already beat the drag King or should I say Queen on this game.
One of the aspects I do not care for or wish they would change is the way you get achievements points. While I have been receiving achievement points for the tasks that I have completed I thrive to consume more achievements by the second and this leads me to change out disks and play other games that the achievements are more easily achievable. No this may seem like I am lazy but part of the whole XBOX Live experience is to top your other friends in collecting achievement points.
While there are other games that let me as a gamer gain achievement points in a quicker way I wish Pro Street was easier to find achievements.

Sharing of the XBOX 360
I personally do not have my own XBOX 360, instead my son has the XBOX 360 within the house thanks to "Santa" giving him the system as a gift during the last holiday season. Now I will will say that both and my son have our own Xbox Live accounts and we both play on our own account. The 360 is located in my son's room along with his TV.
I seem to have to kick out of his room and off the XBOX in order to play any games and the attitude I am shown is nothing less than irritating. Now while I understand that "Santa" gave him the system and it is his by ownership I feel the need to mess with his mind by shutting down my wireless network if he should give me too much attitude about playing on his precious little game system. It is rough being the parent of multiple children that happen to be gamers.

My 1st Post
Hello and welcome to my blog. The purpose of my blog is to give a fresh perspective on the video game industry from a member of Generation X. My generation was the first to be exposed to the video game industry with such plat forms as Intellivision and Atari as well as great games such as Pong, Pitfall and Asteroids.
Many of my fellow Gen Xers have noticed the video game industry grow from a seed into the ever ending forest that is the video game industry of today. I being a Father of four children am witness to the new generation of gaming fanatics. I along with my son Matthew spend countless hours playing games such as Halo and the ever impressive Call of Duty 4. Videos games have enabled both me and my son to have a common desire to play video games while strengthening our relationship as a family.
All of the members of my family play some sort of video game whether it is my daughter Kassie playing a game of Guitar Hero 3 on our Playstation 2, my youngest daughter Lily playing a game on her Nintendo Wii, my teenage daughter Kim playing a game of Bejeweled on her cell phone to my wife Sarah playing a game of Peggle on our home PC. While each family member choses to play a different type of game on a totally different gaming platform the basics of video game enjoyment to not differ, it is about having fun.
From this point I will use this blog to document game reviews, industry news and viewpoint on today's gaming environment. I encourage anyone who reads this blog to pick up a game of your chosing and enjoy the art of gaming.
